Apple tells us that it’s launching a new global advertising campaign called “Shot on iPhone 6.” Starting this week, billboards in 70 cities in 24 countries around the world will feature photos captured by iPhone 6 owners. 77 iPhone photographers will be featured in the campaign after Apple selected their images as its favorites.

The worldwide nature of this effort makes this possibly the largest mobile photo gallery ever put together, featuring the work of a group that spans a wide range of backgrounds, nationalities, ages, professions, cultures and photography experience.

The photographs in the campaign were not commissioned by Apple and captured by hired photographers. Instead, the company reviewed tens of thousands of photos published on the Web by iPhone 6 owners, eventually selecting a small set of them to feature worldwide.

The image above was shot by Renee M. in Union City, California. Apple was intrigued by the balance between shadows and light, which helps highlight subtle details such as the repeating footprints in the dirt.

Here are 20 of Apple’s favorite iPhone 6 photos, along with Apple’s rationale for selecting them:
Shot by Ahmed A. in Albuquerque, NM.
When photographing a flat landscape, focusing on foreground elements — like the partially inflated balloons in this photo — helps create greater depth of field.

Shot by Brendan Ó. in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Shooting from an unexpected angle can add an interesting twist. Here, it creates contours in the lines that convey a sense of movement to the viewer.

Shot by Cielo D. in Alameda, CA.
Shooting your subject in a reflection — like the one on this wet street — can make a simple scene seem surreal and surprising.

Shot by Cole R. in Rocky Mountain National Park, CO.
You can use composition to tell thought-provoking stories. In this photo, a solitary human figure against a backdrop of sky creates both scale and a sense of isolation.

Shot by Cole R. in Star Valley Ranch, WY.
Establishing a central focal point can have dramatic impact. Here, wispy clouds lead the eye to the hut and create a stronger sense of focus.

Shot by Cory S. in Lake Cushman, WA.
The presence of human subjects in a natural setting like this forest creates a more relatable sense of scale and emphasizes the height of other elements in the photo.

Shot by Gabby K. in Snoqualmie Pass, WA.
Soft lighting and a focus on reflections can add a dreamy, ethereal quality to a photo — here, they create the illusion that the subject is almost floating.

Shot by Hattan A. in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Focusing on the patterns in a scene, like the one created by this hallway, can produce a striking element of visual interest.

Shot by Hyeong Jun K. in Seoul, South Korea.
The exaggerated scale of a shadow, like the one cast by the tree, can add an element of interest to a stark landscape.

Shot by Jeremiah C. in Amicalola Falls State Park, GA.
Finding a common theme in different elements, like the flowing waterfall and the woman’s flowing locks, can make a photo more compelling.

Shot by Jeremiah C. in Atlanta, GA.
Using reflection is a great way to capture two perspectives in the same image. Here, the puddle shows the photographer’s top-down perspective as well as the ground-up perspective of the building and sky.

Shot by Jirasak P. in Mae Hong Sorn, Thailand.
Convergent lines, like those created by the trees and shoreline, can provide a more interesting perspective in a composition.

Shot by John L. in British Columbia, Canada.
Sometimes the physical elements in a scene, like the car window and side mirror here, can frame a photo.

Shot by Jun I. in Tokyo, Japan.
Capturing opposing subjects together, like the manmade overpass and the natural element provided by the trees in this photo, helps create a compelling contrast.'

Shot by Kim G. in El Calafate, Argentina.
Aligning elements along the imaginary lines dividing an image into thirds — the way the trees, glacier, and mountains are seen here — can bring balance to a composition.

Shot by Noah W. in Marina Del Rey, CA.
Use naturally occurring shadows to your advantage. In this photo, the solid silhouette of the dog interrupts the stripes cast across the sidewalk.

Shot by Sarah P. in White Sands, NM.
Capturing people in nature shots can help define the scale of the setting and make it more compelling. The silhouettes in this photo amplify the desert’s vastness and turn an ordinary landscape into a story.

Shot by Shan L. in San Francisco, CA.
Sometimes the best shots aren’t planned. The bird flying through this photo adds a sense of scale and surprise to an iconic view, making the whole composition more interesting.

Shot by Waldemar N. in Gdańsk, Poland.
Shooting from an unusual perspective, like from the forest floor in this photo, can create a more interesting viewpoint.

Nikon today announced its new D7200, a 24.2-megapixel lightweight DSLR camera geared toward photography and videography enthusiasts. It boasts sharper image quality, a bigger buffer, improved autofocusing in low-light, and serious features for video recording.'

One of the notable things about the camera is that the DX-format CMOS sensor doesn’t have an optical low-pass filter, allowing photographers to capture sharper photographs. The downside, however, is that photos may occasionally suffer from unsightly moire patterns.

The core of the camera also feature an EXPEED 4 processor, which provides 30% faster image processing than the camera’s predecessor, the D7100. ISO ranges from 100 to 25,600.

The larger buffer can now hold 18 14-bit RAW photos, 27 12-bit compressed photos, or 100 JPEG photos. That capacity will come in handy due to the cameras ability to capture 6FPS in continuous shooting or 7FPS in 1.3x crop mode — a handy option for things like sports and wildlife.

There’s a “pro-caliber” 51-point autofocus system that covers a large part of the DX-format area. Switch to 1.3x crop mode and the AF system will cover nearly the entire frame. The system features 15-cross-type sensors that work well even in low-light situations, and the center point can be used down to f/8 — again, something sports and wildlife photographers may find useful.

On the outside of the camera is a durable magnesium alloy body and a 3.2-inch, 1.23-million-dot LCD screen. Inside the optical viewfinder is a special low-powerful OLED element that helps improve visibility while you’re shooting.

Other camera features include Wi-Fi and NFC for wireless connectivity, new Picture Controls such as Flat and Clarity that can be used in real time during Live View, 1080p HD video recording at 30/25/24p (and 60/50p in 1.3x crop mode), auto ISO sensitivity in manual mode, “zebra stripes” highlight display to confirm exposure, a built-in stereo mic with 20 step adjustments, and a time-lapse mode with exposure smoothing.

Canon reignited the megapixel war today by officially announcing the 5DS and 5DS R, the highest resolution full frame DSLRs in the world. The cameras continue the 5D line with an impressive jump in megapixels, going from 22.3MP to a whopping 50.6MP.
Physically the cameras appear to be identical to their predecessor. The LCD on the back is still a fixed, non-tilting 3.2-inch display with 1.04 million dots.

ISO has actually taken a step backwards. While the 5D Mark III offered a range of 100-25600, the new cameras are limited to 100-6400. Canon doesn’t explain this in its announcement today, but we previously heard that it was because the cameras have a superior color filter array for the best color accuracy Canon has ever offered.

With such high resolution, both cameras have been engineered with designs and features that attempt to minimize camera shake. In addition to physical design choices (e.g. reinforced guts to increase rigidity), the cameras have redesigned mirror vibration control systems and a new feature called Arbitrary Release Time Lag in Mirror Lock mode. This makes the camera snap a photo only after a certain amount of time has passed after shutter release, which allows camera shake to go away first prior to the exposure.

If you don’t always want 50.6MP files popping out of your camera, there are new crop modes and aspect ratios to choose from. You can drop down to 30.5MP for a 1.3x crop mode and 19.6 for a 1.6x mode. There are also choices between 1:1 (i.e. square format), 3:2, 4:3, and 16:9 for your photos’ aspect ratios. A mask or outline on your LCD screen will show you exactly what framing the resulting photo will have.

Both cameras pack dual DIGIC 6 processors, a 150K pixel RGB+IR metering sensor with 252 zones, dual SD/CF card slots, an intervalometer, a bulb timer, a 100% field of view viewfinder, time-lapse movie creation, a 61-point AF system with 41 cross type, 5fps continuous shooting at full res, and shutters rated for 150,000 cycles.

On the video side of things, the 5DS cameras capture 1080p recording up to 30fps or 720p up to 60fps, but they lack microphone inputs and HDMI out capabilities. We previously heard that yet another 5D, the 5D Mark IV, will be more video-centric when it’s launched later this year.

The difference between the 5DS R and the 5DS is that the “R” edition omits the low pass filter that’s used for dealing with the moire effect in order to achieve slightly better detail resolution. Otherwise, these two cameras are identical.

Update: If you’d like to see what a 50.3MP photo looks like, here’s a full-resolution sample photo shared by Canon:

YOUTUBE Channel, "The Slow Mo Guys", they take you through a speed camera in slow motion into the world, such as the rubber band tied at the moment and then explode a watermelon circle, or see the bullet shot out of the water when screen, but this time the Slow Mo Guys job situation is shooting DSLR mirror room, the process of using slow shutter operations film presents!

Principle of operation of the shutter I believe many people have seen the information and explanations, but then how did not actually witness it impressed! The Slow Mo Guys shoot with the Phantom Flex high speed camera Canon EOS 7D mirror room to ultra-high video frame rate 10,000fps presented 400 times in slow motion video, you can clearly see that after pressing the shutter inside the DSLR is how it works : mirror lockup, before and after the shutter curtain from the top down to complete the exposure, and then put down the mirror. The slow motion through the presentation of shock when the mirror is raised and put down is also more pronounced. Another film also demonstrates the differences set the shutter speed from 1/8000 seconds to 1/1000 second to control the amount of light of different before and after the shutter open inexpensive, poor closing time is not the same.
▲ Slow shutter operation of the rendering process.

▲ different shutter speeds through space the size of two pieces of curtain control the amount of light. (Source: film screenshot)

In addition, The Slow Mo Guys also mentioned the rolling shutter (rolling shutter) of the impact and effectiveness, due to CMOS at the completion of the exposure, the electronic signal is like a top-down / left to right (or vice versa) as the shutter operation Lim progressive scan, so there will be the main effect of deformation or jelly. Usually under extreme conditions, such as when the fast pan mirror, violent shaking of the screen, or the main rapid lateral movement from the front of the lens. The film also has examples (from 5:40 start watching), the scenery shot in the car, along with the picture can be seen whizzing fence poles and are skewed. Because of rolling shutter on the record there is a time difference of the photosensitive element, so sometimes feel weird to see some fantastic pictures, such as another example cited in the film (from 4:45 seconds to start watching), to spray champagne yet in the air, but the shadow has to face the people.

Relative to the rolling shutter, CCD sensor used in the past is global shutter (global shutter), the photosensitive element, "while" the exposure of the entire screen, there is no such problem. It is understood that there are now a global shutter CMOS, but they are used for professional-grade equipment, can look forward to the next round after the maturity of the technology used in consumer products. If you're still not clear rolling shutter and global shutter works, you can refer to this article abroad, detailed illustrations inside, you probably know how the poles are crooked.
